Apple cider is proven to help you stay lean, to help with intestinal candida symptoms and digestive problems and to improve your complexion.

Apple cider vinegar not only tastes delicious when poured over your salad or vegetables but it’s a cheap tonic that can improve or even cure many annoying ailments – read on to learn 6 highly useful apple cider vinegar uses!

The problem with evaluating ACVs effectiveness is that it’s often marketed as being powerful fat loss aid and miracle supplement to women.

Whilst one of my apple cider vinegar uses is as a weight loss supplement, it is definitely not one of the best fat loss supplements out there…

If you expect to see instant, obvious reductions in body fat after taking ACV for a couple of weeks, you’re going to be disappointed. However, If you regularly use this functional condiment for a while, you may well find that your energy levels improve and you do lose a few unwanted pounds…

Given its cheap, tasty and pretty effective at improving a number of conditions it’s probably a good idea to give apple cider vinegar a try…

My six apple cider vinegar uses are:

  1. Fat loss aid
  2. Face toner
  3. Digestive aid
  4. Energising tonic
  5. Complexion brightener
  6. Yeast infection treatment

Apple cider vinegar uses:

1) Fat Loss aid:

One of the most controversial of my apple cider vinegar uses is as a fat loss supplement – many women swear by it for dieting but others claim that it does absolutely nothing at all.

I’ve often written on this site that I feel that the quickest route to fat loss is through simple diet changes such as the addition of reasonable amounts of quality protein to the diet and through the removal of sugar and vegetable oils. Regular weights training combined with diet improvement helps to transform body composition.

Supplements can help with fat loss but are of much less importance than the above. Besides this, there are better supplements for fat loss out there than ACV.

Science does, however, back up claims that ACV can help you to lose weight. In one study, when taken before a breakfast based on white wheat bread, vinegar caused ‘reduced postprandial responses of blood glucose and insulin, and increased the subjective rating of satiety’(1).

The results also showed that there was ‘an inverse dose-response relation between the level of acetic acid and glucose and insulin responses and a linear dose-response relation between acetic acid and satiety rating’. This is by no means the only study to show these effects.

These results confirm the real life experiences of many who have started regularly taking vinegar with meals. People remain satisfied for longer after eating and find that their appetites decrease. The result of these changes is easy and comfortable weight loss.

2) Face Toner:

The second of my apple cider vinegar uses is as a face cleanser or toner. To make this toner you would mix apple cider vinegar with spring water or green tea in a ratio ranging from 2:1 up to 10:1, depending on your skin type, in a plastic bottle. You can then apply the toner after cleansing with a cotton wool bud in the night and/or morning everyday or every other day.

People who use this toner report that it evens skin tone, reduces blemishes and shrinks pores. It is apparently very effective for people who have oily skin but can also help people with dry skin when it is diluted well and used less often.

The obvious downsides of this toner is that it has a smell that many will find unpleasant; mixing the apple cider vinegar with green tea will somewhat cover up the smell.

On the plus side this is extremely cheap and will last for a long time; it is also completely natural and therefore doesn’t contain all of the harsh chemicals that over-the-counter products do.

You really have nothing to lose by trying out this one of my apple cider vinegar uses for a week and seeing if it suites your skin type.

3) Digestive aid:

Another more famous one of my apple cider vinegar uses is as a digestive aid. Apple cider vinegar contains acetic acid along with malic, lactic and citric acids.

The acids in apple cider vinegar help to create an acidic environment in the stomach which is needed for good protein and fat digestion and for the absorption of many nutrients. Unpasteurised ACV also contains enzymes that help digestion.

Low stomach acid is often a cause of indigestion symptoms such as bloating, belching, gas, nausea and stomach pain. It has also been linked to seemingly unrelated issues such as acne rosacea, brittle fingernails and even depression.

Try 2 teaspoons of ACV in hot water after a meal. You can take more vinegar, even 2 tablespoons, with warm water if you need more help.

Many of you may, however, need more than ACV; you will need to take betaine HCL capsules with meals for a while. The easiest way to see whether you would benefit from betaine HCL capsules is to do a trial with 200mg capsules:

-Take one half way through a high protein meal and if you have adequate stomach acid you should feel a warm sensation in your stomach, like if you’d had a cup of tea.
– If not, keep adding capsules until you do. If you get to 7 capsules and do not feel a burning sensation then you are acholoridic (have no stomach acid).
– Take one cap less than the dose that caused the burning each meal; when it starts burning you decrease the dose by one.
-Work down until you no longer need supplementary HCL.

This one of my apple cider vinegar uses can be pretty delicious; try starting a meal with a small salad topped with a vinegrette dressing based on olive oil and a tablespoon of ACV.

4) Improves energy levels:

ACV can help you to improve your daily energy levels! Try it today.

Many people find that drinking 2 or 3 cups of hot water a day with a couple of teaspoons of ACV added noticeably improves their energy levels. There a number of reasons why this could be true:

– Firstly, ACV is rich in potassium which the adrenals need, along with sodium, to function properly and to maintain high and steady energy levels.

– Secondly, regularly drinking or cooking with ACV encourages liver detoxification and maintaining a healthy liver is crucial to keeping your head clear, your energy levels up and for encouraging optimal fat burning.

-Thirdly, as discussed in the weight loss section, taking apple cider vinegar with meals helps to keep your blood sugar levels stable between meals – keeping your blood sugar levels stable is crucial to avoiding energy crashes that would otherwise limit your productivity.

The effects of drinking ACV are likely to be subtle but cumulative – you may well wake up in a few weeks and wonder why you feel more fresh, forgetting about this change to your diet.

5) Brightens the complexion:

Users often report that they quickly notice a more rosy, healthy looking complexion after taking ACV. This is likely due to its detoxification effect and possibly also due to it aiding the digestive process and thereby improving the absorption of minerals such as zinc that are extremely important for healthy skin.

If you try this one of my apple cider vinegar uses to improve your looks you may well find that your overall health improves along with your complexion.

6) Treats yeast infections:

Many women suffer from various yeast infections that fall under the bracket of candidiasis. Apple cider vinegar is helpful for controlling candida overgrowth in the gut and this will lead to a reduction/ resolving of symptoms in various parts of the body.

Apple cider vinegar works in two ways to control candida:

Firstly, one of the causes of candida is incomplete digestion and many who have candida find their symptoms improve if they take digestive aids such enzymes, bitters or HCL – we have already seen that ACV is a great digestive aid.

Secondly, ACV is good for the immune system and it is mainly during periods of stress when immune system function is low that candida thrives and your symptoms appear.

Bear in mind that there are many much superior supplements to ACV that you can take to control cancidaisis. Many of the supplements you’ll see, however, are grossly overprised and may not be that effective; apple cider vinegar is extremley cheap and has helped many over the years.

If your interested in resolving your candida problem I would initially recommend you take 3 supplements: the prebiotic inulin and the glutathione precusors, plant based selenium and cold pressed whey protein (lactoferrin capsules are also very helpful).

I will be writing an article on how to best deal with candidaisis soon.
